Business groups last night criticised the plan that has led to fears of a massive reduction in government work as the country tries to pull itself out of recession. I’m struggling to see why they should be treated differently from anyone else who works in London.
Will the BBC lose some of its star Voices? Bosses admit programme needs overhaul to beat BGT in ratings war. Following a huge slump in audience figures, the next series of The Voice is likely to see major changes - and none of the four celebrity coaches, including Jessie J, left, has yet signed up. Surely it’s still too early for a resign anyway, to be honest I’m not sure ant of them would resign.
More than half of cyclists admit they've jumped red lights to get ahead of other road users. A survey has revealed that the majority of cyclists admit to risky - end even illegal - behaviour on Britain's roads by jumping red lights and riding on the pavement. I was going to open this up for discussion today, but I’ve noticed cyclist vs other road users can be very confrontational.
Greece could quit the euro, admits Merkel as global markets are plunged into turmoil. Global financial markets were today plunged into chaos as Greece continued to teeter on the brink of crashing out of the euro zone. Is anyone else like me failing to keep up with all this, I just don’t understand it at all, I have enough trouble organising all my personal accounts and trying to remember the 30 pieces of security information we are expected to remember.
Lunchtime health risk: How that quick sandwich at your desk can double your risk of DVT . The Saturdays singer Frankie Sandford is in no rush to follow her fellow bandmates Rochelle Wiseman and Una Healy down the aisle. She's dating Premier League footballer Wayne Bridge but reckons they're both under too much pressure to tie the knot.
X Factor UK judge Louis Walsh has attacked rival talent show The Voice as "dull and boring" and calls its star mentor will.i.am "ridiculous". He says he "hates" the BBC1 song contest and thinks record producer will.i.am would be nothing without his Black Eyed Peas bandmate Fergie. The Westlife and Boyzone manager says he would never appear on the BBC show, which he likened to Fame Academy, a similar talent show format which is 10 years old.
Angelina Jolie has forked out almost 1-million pounds on a helicopter and flying lessons for fiance Brad Pitt. The paper reports the couple have had a helicopter pad installed in the grounds of their south of France home, Chateau Miraval.
